Gerardo Mastrogiovanni

Photographer - Dop - Steadicam operator Gerardo Mastrogiovanni was born in Caserta on May 4, 1984. From the age of 14 he began to discover the world of analogue and digital photography. After his literary studies and an economics degree, he decided to continue following his great passion by starting his training at the ILAS Italian Academy of Communication in Naples where he studied photography and advertising graphics, graduating with honors. In those years he won the ILAS ID & A 2016 contest as the most voted work in the Advertising-Photo category and some of his works were exhibited at the PAN in Naples. Thus began his professional activity as an advertising photographer for various companies in the Campania region, but in 2017 the turning point took place with the entry into Santangelo Studios in Naples. Thanks to the precious guidance of Diego Santangelo, through whom he refines his visual and photographic aesthetics, Gerardo begins a professional training course that leads him in 2018 to become technical director and head of the Ecommerce and Still Life photography department of Santangelo Studios. Over the years he signs some important photographic works for companies of the caliber of ISAIA, Carthusia, Cavallano Napoli, Caffè Motta, SSCNapoli, Sartoria Italiana, CAPRIVICE, to name just a few. But Gerardo's growth path does not stop and he begins to implement cinematographic shooting and lighting techniques within the Santangelo studios, he trains as an operator of remote shooting systems with 8K cameras and also specializes as a steadycam operator under the school of Greg Smith, one of the best cinematographers on the world scene. Under the direction of Diego Santangelo he shoots important national commercials for brands such as BeRent, La Torrente, Caffè Motta, Original Marines and Napoli Calcio. 2022 represents a very important year from a professional point of view as he works as Director of Photography on the film 'A MUZZARELL' by Diego Santangelo. In the same year he became one of the partners and founders of Santangelo Media Studios, a film, video and television program production company that intends to position itself as a leader in the sector in the territories included in the Mediterranean basin. His dynamic and contemporary photographic style, combined with an accurate and studied choice of light, represents a distinctive and unmistakable trait that makes Gerardo Mastrogiovanni one of the young talents on the Italian scene.
